Site Redesign!
Author: General Hawk :: Posted: Wed Aug 22, 2007 7:13 pm
As I work to possibly add content and make the overall site and forum more accessible and more integrated, I have reworked the format of some of the site to better mesh with the forums themselves. The main page should include easy to navigate links to forum sections, plus all of the site sections as well.

A lot of the redesign work is going on behind the scenes, but you should start seeing evidence of it as the week continues.

Let me know what you think when it all comes together!

New Board Modifications
Author: General Hawk :: Posted: Thu Aug 02, 2007 12:47 pm
As many of you have probably realized, this forum has been inundated with spambots and false members, which has made managing it pretty tough. That's part of the reason activity has been so sparse, at least on my end.

Well, this morning I installed a few board modifications that put in a minor extra step for new registrants, but should cut down on spam members considerably. With these mods in place, hopefully I will be able to be more active in the forums.

Thanks to everyone for their patience!

Justin

Cleaning House / Member Registration stuff
Author: AutobotC5 :: Posted: Fri Apr 20, 2007 12:28 pm
Hi all!

I've been busy keeping the memberlist cleaned out of spambot registrants more and more lately. Despite Hawk's and my best efforts, we're popping in to find we're adding an average of two phantom registrants per day. In light of the seemingly ever-increasing spambot traffic to the site, I'm making a request of new registrants and some current registrants who haven't made any posts to the board...

For new registrants: IT WILL BE EXTREMEMLY HELPFUL TO THE ADMINS/MODS if you fill out the "location" and "interests" block in your registration form. This helps us more readily determine who's a real user and who's a spambot in those cases where it's not blatantly obvious.

For existing approved registrants: please either make a post (even if just to simply intro yourself) or make sure your "location" and "interests" blocks are filled out, so I won't inadvertently clear you out during a spambot culling. If I happen to accidentally delete you, please re-register ASAP...and re-register using the guidelines in the previous paragraph.

So...please make sure to get those blocks filled in! And of course, let me know if you have any questions. Smile

New Member Registration -- slight change
Author: AutobotC5 :: Posted: Wed Jul 19, 2006 12:36 pm
Making an adjustment to the registration process, due to inundation by phantom spambot users in recent weeks.

From this day forward all new user accounts must be approved by an Admin before the new user will be allowed to post to the forums. What this means for folks wanting to register is that once you have submitted your user info for processing, there will be a brief waiting period before your account at the COPS HQ Dispatch is activated and you are allowed to post under your username.

Questions? Heh, I'll try to answer them... Smile

The Episode Guide/Cartoon Section is live!
Author: General Hawk :: Posted: Sat Mar 04, 2006 2:06 am
Hey, guys! Thanks to Sturm316's homeschool DVD's, I've started the COPS Episode Guide!

http://copshq.generalsjoes.com/media/cartoon/episodeguide.htm

Got all of the episodes listed chronologically (except for COPS Case File #1, which I just had to put first) and have synopsis done for the first five episodes.

Please check it out and let me know if things look okay, or if there's anything else you'd like to see. I think I'll wait for the official DVD's to come before I tackle too much of the early stuff, just because the screen cap quality will be better.

But do these work okay for people? Any other tidbits of info or media you'd like in each synopsis?

Justin
